Movember: November 2025

Movember is a month-long movement throughout November that raises awareness of men‘s health issues, specifically mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

What is Movember?

Movember was founded in 2003 by two friends who encouraged 30 men to grow a moustache to raise funds for men‘s health. Today, the initiative has over six million supporters worldwide and is dedicated to funding men‘s health research, raising awareness and challenging stereotypes about men’s health.

Why did Movember start?

On average, men live six years less than women – a health inequality that is often unnoticed. Therefore, Movember aims to bring more attention to the health issues that specifically affect men. Visit the official Movember website to learn more about the cause and its history.

Men‘s health issues in the UK

In the UK, around 12.5% of men experience a mental health disorder and men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. You can read more about men’s mental health, here

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer for men in the UK. Testicular cancer is rarer, making up around 1% of newly diagnosed cancers in the UK. However, both cancers have a large impact on the quality of life for those affected. Learn more about both cancers here

How you can get involved

There are many ways to support Movember this November:

  • Grow a moustache: Create an account on the official Movember page, start growing your moustache, share your progress and raise money.
  • Move for Movember: Walk or run 60 kilometres throughout the month – this symbolises the 60 men lost to suicide every hour. Set up your profile to track and share your progress.
  • Host a ‘Moment’: Organise an event that involves the community and local businesses to raise awareness and funds. Get started here.

How does sharing your views make a difference?

You might think your feedback doesn’t have the power to change how health and social care services run. We want to show you how that isn’t the case.
