Vaccination: now offered to 12-15 year olds in schools

The vaccine is now being offered to all 12 to 15-year-olds and the NHS will be delivering the vaccination through schools. Schools are contacted with students of this age to arrange a date to vaccinate their students.

Information will be provided to parents and students via the schools to enable them to make an informed decision about taking up the vaccine.

Consent

Prior to vaccination, appropriate consent must be obtained. For 12-15-year-olds, this would initially be parental consent however a child can give their own consent where they have been assessed as competent to consent to vaccination (this is known as Gallick competent).

Consent forms and guidance leaflets are available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-resources-for-children-and-young-people
